Quality Specialist

Quality Responsibilities:

  • Assess critical characteristics of incoming mechanical and electrical materials using visual inspection and dimensional measurement instruments
  • Identify and process nonconforming material
  • Perform and record in-process product inspections
  • Record inspection activities using Excel spreadsheets
  • Prepare customer travelers, special certifications, and material test certificates
  • Perform internal audits, draft reports, and report audit findings
  • Create, review, revise, and approve written procedures
  • Maintain controlled documents and records
  • Collect and report quality metrics as determined by the organization
  • Identify, implement, manage, and track the timely closure of corrective and preventive actions
  • Participate as member of material review board (MRB), engineering change review (ECR) committee, corrective action review committee (CRC), and new product design team
  • Provide quality oversight for event, product, and material issue evaluation, investigation, and problem solving
  • Support the creation, approval, and implementation of quality objectives
  • Create, review, revise, and approve internal process documentation to ensure compliance with industry standards
  • Advocate a quality oriented mindset for the organization, per the corporate quality policy
  • Support the creation and presentation of training material for quality related topics
  • Manage training records
  • Represent quality for product design engineering activities
  • Create, review, edit, and approve design, process, and document changes
  • Support the collection and reporting of data for quality management review (QMR)
  • Maintain and apply knowledge of current industry standards (ISO 9001)
  • Participate in the investigation of product complaints
  • Support the supplier quality program
  • Approve calibrations and assess impact of out-of-tolerance calibrations
  • Support ISO9001 compliance through audit support and implementation of corrections

Knowledge / Understanding:

  • Statistical sampling
  • Quality system standards (ISO9001)
  • Electrical and/or mechanical standards (IEC, UL, ISO)
  • Common office software products (Microsoft Office)
  • Verification and validation concepts

Skills / Experience:

  • Use of small mechanical devices (microscope, multimeter)
  • Associate or bachelor degree (preferred) in a science or technical field
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and communicate throughout all levels of the organization
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills (English)
  • Good mathematic skills
  • Mechanical aptitude with good manual dexterity
  • 3 – 5 years quality control experience (preferred) in receiving inspection
  • Working knowledge of measurement instruments such as calipers, micrometers, scales, screw gauges, pin gauges, and surface roughness measurements
  • Application of IPC-A-610 specifications for assessment of circuit board assemblies
  • General proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook (email)
  • Working knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 (or 2008)
  • Working knowledge of ATEX
  • Working knowledge of equipment and instrument calibrations
  • Critical thinking and problem solving
  • Associate or bachelor degree (preferred) in a science or technical field
  • 3 – 5 years of experience in a manufacturing quality environment
  • Quality (AQS), Auditing (ISO), or similar certification is desirable.
